Recommended for Grade 7. This Kit provides students opportunities to learn basic concepts of the role energy plays in our environment, from the urban heat island effect to global warming. Included are temperature probes and infra-red sensors that allow students to collect and analyze data in ways that were impossible in the past. The teachers guide includes significant content to support a field trip to the Exhibition Place, where students can see one of Canada's largest photovoltaic installations, as well as Canada's only urban commercial wind turbine. Field trips to the turbine are run by the Toronto Renewable Energy Cooperative.
