As little Loka navigates his way among the behemoths he must learn some crucial life lessons - suckling, swimming and getting a handle on his unwieldy trunk... all under the watchful eye of his family.  His older sister sometimes babysits.  She won't be a mother herself for a few years yet, but looking after Loka is a chance for her to start learning the skills she'll need to raise her own calves in the future.  This is an idyllic place for a young elephant to grow up but, when drought hits the park, Jaya is forced to lead Loka on a perilous journey in search of fresh food.
