After Louisa, Evelyn, and Rosie rescue Maddie from the Alliance and discover that Maddie's mother is the leader of the Resistance, the girls embark on a journey to find the Resistance headquarters despite the remaining threat of the Alliance and the disappearance of members of their group in rubble-strewn Chicago.
