Mr. Beanbody, Jeffrey and Lilly travel back to the 17th century, where they find themselves in a meeting of investors of the Virginia Company of London. They learn the company's goals. They then go to the three ships that take the London Company colonists to America. Onboard, Captain John Smith is imprisoned after clashing with two high-ranking gentlemen. Upon their arrival, the colonists are attacked by natives. When exploring the James River, they meet friendly natives. During the summer, many colonists die from disease and hunger. Other problems ensue -- dishonest leaders, unfriendly natives, little food and sickness. Eventually, however, the colony survives, thanks in part to John Rolfe's discovery of mild-tasting tobacco.
