Amanda is 12-years-old and lives in Sweden, a country where the sun almost never sets in the summer. Each year, Amanda and her family celebrate Midsummer Festival on June 21st, the shortest night of the year. Amanda wants to know why Swedish summers are always so light and the winters so dark. She researches the movements of the sun and earth, and also discovers which experiments you can do with the sun. She makes her own sun clock, builds an enormous flying sausage, changes the directions in which potato plants grow and uses the sun to make the Midsummer Festival even more fun.
