In Aunt Tilley's house, Kyla and E.B. investigate random objects in the file drawers they inherited from Great Aunt Hermione that show how history connects to who we are and how we live now. Great Aunt Hermione's drawer, "Everything Old...", contains a ball marker, a chess piece and pyramid shaped dice. At Studio du Chateau, in Montreal, E.B. learns how human motion is captured by cameras and fed to software used in creating 3D graphics for movies and video games. Early video games were much simpler. A young chess champion describes the strategic thinking used in chess and video games. At a game cafe, Kyla learns that their die is like those used in the ancient game of Ur, played in Mesopotamia. Many other dice games developed through the centuries. On the cafe shelves she sees some board games that led to video games, and others that are board game adaptations of video games. Everything old is new again!
