Plutarch (c. A.D. 46 û c. 120) was a Greek historian, biographer, essayist, and Middle Platonist known primarily for his Parallel Lives and Moralia. Thanks to his works, the European culture formed the idea of the antiquity epoch. He created fundamentals of modern genre of biography. In 19th century numerous biographies of great people were called “plutarches.”.
