At the end of this activity, students should be able to state the criteria for classifying the elements in the periodic table, state the group to which a given element belongs on the basis of its number of valence electrons, and vice versa, state the period to which a given element belongs on the basis of its number of electron shells, and vice versa, state the block to which a given element belongs, s, p, d or f û on the basis of its electron configuration and give the electron configuration of an element on the basis of its position in the periodic table, and vice versa.
