The high altitude Ladakh plateau in northwest India is a land of extremes. The air is thin and the mountain landscape treacherous; winters are freezing, while summers are scorching hot. The Tibetan wild ass is king of these grasslands, and one old stallion has developed a way to stay one step ahead of his rivals. We follow Dorje as he shadows a herd of females and foals, from winter to summer, when he will get his chance to sire the next generation. But to win his prize he must eventually do battle with other stallions - all wanting his crown!
