Olivia is a 10-year-old girl who lives in Ottawa, Ontario. She'll introduce us to her Haitian Canadian family and tell us about Haiti's history - including the importance of soup joumou (the soup of Haitian independence), which she makes with her mom. Olivia is learning Haitian Creole - and likes to play word games with her sisters! After, we follow Olivia to the gym where she practices gymnastics and demonstrates on the beam, vault and her personal favourite - floor! At home, she shows us her bar, her beam and her gymnastics medals. After a special surprise from her Olympian role model, Olivia goes skating on the Rideau Canal with her family and tells us about the Kompa dance, which she learned from her grandparents. Sunny's Quest features first-person stories told by Black children from across the country. Each episode showcases a different child and their unique perspective on their day-to-day hobbies, their talents, and heritage.
