From scenic Sakonnet Light, on the Massachusetts/Rhode Island border - we approach the Sakonnet River estuary, and Narragansett Bay beyond. Here, we begin our exploration above the surprisingly vast Rhode Island coastline. Beginning at Aquidenck Island, we reveal the history of the region - in the farming practices of early settlers, and the industrial legacy of Provincetown and Pawtucket. To the south, we explore the resort city of Newport - including the "Summer White Houses" of Eisenhower and Kennedy - along with the rest of the "Newport Mansions". Finally, further south, we explore the town of Westerly - and trace the Pawtucket River to the Connecticut state line.
