The video Who Gangs Target is a dramatization of an interview with two incarcerated gang members. From the outset, the interviewer establishes that the objective of the interview is to identify and expose the type of young person street gangs are likely to target for recruitment. Motivated by a desire to help young people, they explain how the gangs operate and describe who their likely target would be. Dressed in prison uniforms, the two gangsters sit face to face with the interviewer as they relate their experiences as gang members. They tell her that gang leadership does not care about the kids; that their motive is purely selfish. They look for kids who are weak and vulnerable, not those who are confident and strong. The recruits, they explain, are youth who are looking for love, companionship and respect.
