The Australian flag flutters high above the country's two most recognizable icons - the Sydney Harbour Bridge and its distinctive neighbor, the Sydney Opera House. In 2007 the futuristic, sensually designed opera house was Given Unesco's top honor - World Heritage Status. The Sydney Opera House is an expressionist modern design. Each of its distinctive large 'shells' is made from pre-cast concrete and each taken from a hemisphere of the same radius, forming the roofs of the structure.
