More than half of British Columbia is covered with forests. These forests brought loggers, fur trappers and gold prospectors to British Columbia. Victoria, on Vancouver Island, was a fur trade post and gold rush town before it became the capital of the province. The main industries of British Columbia are forestry, mining and fishing.
