An object is symmetrical when one side of its centre axis is a perfect reflection of the other side. A picture of a mountain reflected in water has a symmetrical composition. The line of symmetry divides a figure into two identical mirror image halves when it is folded along vertical, horizontal or diagonal lines. A snowflake and a daisy have more than one line of symmetry. The Investigators find symmetrical objects like a lamp, a sign, a house window, and a leaf. Some leaves, however are asymmetrical. Objects that have bilateral symmetry (also called reflection, mirror or line symmetry) include airplanes and insects. Rotational symmetry can be seen in a pinwheel. Hamza concludes that the human brain loves symmetry because our bodies are symmetrical!
