In Aunt Tilley's house, Kyla and E.B. investigate random objects in the file drawers they inherited from Great Aunt Hermione that show how history connects to who we are and how we live now. The file label for this episode is smudged: "R---r's Gift" is all that can be read. E.B. meets a Voyageur descendant and learns that these historic supermen, transported cargo along rivers in birch bark canoes and traded for furs. The voyageurs relied on the First Nations people to help them navigate the waterways, their major highways. Portaging from one body of water to another added to their hard work. Rivers provided transportation, drinking water, and fish for food.
