The Forbidden City is the Imperial Palace of China in both Ming and Qing Dynasties, during which altogether 24 emperors had been living here. Being regarded as "the Sea of palaces", it has over 9000 splendid halls, covering a total area of over 720 thousand square meters. The Forbidden City, as the largest living ancient architectural groups of the Chinese style in the world, is listed by the UNESCO as one of the World Heritage for its unique architecture. As "the Palace Museum" at present, it presents the artistic treasures of all dynasties in Chinese history.
