In 1775, American rebel armies, led by Richard Montgomery and Benedict Arnold, attacked Canada, captured Montreal and beseiged Quebec. Loyalist forces, under Guy Carleton, gathered in Canada to defend the colony which remained loyal to the British Crown. It was a major turning point in North American history.
