Using dramatic archival footage, original shots and home videos, this first part in the Extreme Weather series recalls some of the top ten wind and water disasters of the last century including Hurricane Hazel in 1954, Hurricane Juan in 2003 and the Edmonton Tornado of 1987. It tells these gripping stories from individual experiences during these life and death events. Part 2: Canada has more kinds of extreme weather than anywhere else on the planet. As if that weren't already bad enough, global climate change has meant an increase in the frequency and severity of storms, floods, droughts and other catastrophic weather events. Part 2 of the Extreme Weather series looks at Canada's worst fire and ice disasters, including BC's deadly 2003 forest fires and the Quebec/Ontario ice storm of 1998.
