A horse-drawn sleigh gliding along the newfallen snow, and filled with laughing and singing revelers, is a joyous winter scene in the Adirondack Mountain region of northern New York. To musically depict this happy mood, in both the introduction and main theme, keep bow strokes short and in the upper half of the bow. For a more authentic performance, the addition of a string of sleigh bells played in a steady eighth note rhythm would be most appropriate. Encourage performers to shout the directions loudy to the imaginary horses.
