Readers of this text set in the year 415 BC are invited to the city-state of Athens while it's preparing for war. After helping a slave escape, the narrator is just one step ahead of an angry overseer. However, the chase allows for chance meetings with a whole cast of characters who shed light on the Greek culture of that time, including an actor, an athlete, a Parthenon priestess, and even the famous philosopher Socrates!
