Having interesting and detailed microdata is important to the success of the culminating projects undertaken by students in the Ontario grade 12 Mathematics of Data Management (MDM4U) course. Health is a topic of interest to many students for their MDM4U culminating projects. Statistics Canada collects a wide range of detailed data on the health of Canadian through its Canadian Community Health Survey (CCHS). Since 2005 through a pilot project several schools have received training and had free access to the rich data of the CCHS Public Use Microdata files. During this period it has been demonstrated that after about 2 hours of training mathematics MDM4U teachers have the statistical and technical competence to begin to make effective use of this detailed data for statistical analysis projects. This product can also be used in Health and Social Science classes in secondary schools. Usage of the Beyond 20/20 Software: The Beyond 20/20 Browser software supplied with the CCHS Public Use Microdata File is only to be used with the microdata on this product. Usage with other datasets would need to be negotiated with Beyond 20/20 Corporation. Note: any licensed user of Statistics Canadas E-STAT product for educational institutions can download the Beyond 20/20Browser software for free from the E-STAT Help/Frequently asked questions page by clicking Beyond 20/20 Professional Browser.
