Explores how all combatants adjusted their propaganda in 1943 when the balance of the war began to shift. The British/Canadian raid on Dieppe, an attempt to create some good news for the Allies, fails spurring a cover-up in Canada and becoming fodder for the Nazi propaganda machine. Hollywood takes up the cause, growing American support for U.S. involvement. In Nazi-occupied France a brutal roundup of Jewish families sends a shiver through Paris. On the Eastern front, the Germans attack Stalingrad. Trapped in another Russian winter, morale plummets while Goebbels holds out hope for a victory until a succession of losses forces him into another direction.
