Disc 1: Through the experiences of the Voyageurs and the fur trade, the two episodes deal with the union upon which Canada was founded: that of Aboriginal and European cultures. Historians taking part in the episodes are from Quebec, Manitoba, British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Wisconsin and Oregon. They are men and women, French and English, American, Blackfoot and Métis - the multiculturalism of the participants telling their story mirrors the multiculturalism of the voyageurs and their descendents. The comments of the historians are interspersed with fictionalized stories. Disc 2: The Voyageur Legacy - our story: a documentary about a group of people who go against the grain to take a closer look at the idiosyncrasies of recounting history through film and the trials and tribulations of the cast and crew who have embarked on this journey.
