Amazon Giant Otters really are giants. At nearly two metres long from nose to tail, they are the largest of the world's otters, and certainly the most sociable, living in noisy groups of up to twenty. Otters are one of the top predators of the Amazon, the aquatic equivalent of the jaguar. Oscar is a six months old, one of a lively litter of four cubs. He lives in Cocha Salvador, a freshwater lake, in the Amazon Basin. Home is the Manu National Park in southeastern Peru.Giant Otters are at the top of their food chain and have few natural predators.
