Intended for use as a unit of study lasting approximately three weeks. Teachers introduce the theme with a read aloud text, then use the shared reading texts for strategy instruction and practice. Students then continue to explore the topic, and apply the new strategies with a Book Club text appropriate to their independent reading level.
