Based on the true story of Sadako Sasaki, who was only two years old when the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. Years later, when she becomes ill with leukemia, she learns the legend that someone who folds 1,000 paper cranes will have his or her wish granted. Hoping to recover from her illness, she begins folding cranes. Though her task goes unfinished, Sadako's spirit and bravery inspire generations of children all over the world.
