The beautiful Mira River is a river that flows more than thirty miles through Cape Breton Nova Scotia on its journey to the Atlantic Ocean. For the poet and many Nova Scotians, particularly those who grew up around Cape Breton Island, the Mira is also a symbol of the sweet memories of youth, the warmth of family gatherings and the dreams of going home again.
