Something's gone terribly wrong with the city of Detroit. A horrifying metamorphosis has taken hold of the population, and everyone within is undergoing a slow, agonizing transformation. Nobody seems to know why they are changing... becoming animals, or other poeople, or merging with the landscape. Jason and Alison are two lovers inhabitint the same body, wrestling for control while it slowly shifts from male to female. Their companion, "the kid", is growing backwards out of a comatose man. To survive, they must unravel the mystery of their new existence and grapple with the hostile laws of the shifting city.
