The David Suzuki Foundation is a science-based organization committed to helping Canadians act on the understanding that people are all interconnected and interdependent with nature — and each other. Connecting With Nature: An Educational Guide for Grades Four to Six provides cross-curricular lesson plans for classroom and outdoor experiences that link children with nature. The 2014 guide was created and written by staff from the David Suzuki Foundation and the Schulich School of Education at Nipissing University. The 176-page guide includes 16 lesson plans, an assessment overview, a technology overview, an arts rubric, an oral communication rubric, and many other resources. The lessons are: Walkabout -- Barnyard in my classroom -- Who is David Suzuki? -- Living within the limits of nature -- Classroom landfill -- The powerful pollinators -- Celebrating biodiversity -- Gone with the wind -- In limbo -- Down the drain -- Getting there -- What's inside your personal care products? -- Round the year -- Where's the beef? -- Greenbelt game show -- A celebration of nature.
