Colonists from an overcrowded and polluted Earth have landed and are settling on the remote planet Isis and disrupt the lives of its sole inhabitants, Olwen Pendennis and her companion Guardian. The trilogy follows the established community of colonists over time and explores their relationship with the original inhabitants of Isis and later arrivals from Earth.
