Malaria, dengue fever, chikungunya, yellow fever, west nile virus- more than one million people die from mosquito-borne illnesses each year. Another 350 million suffer through the pain of diseases passed along by these insects. Now, scientists are hoping to wipe out some of these deadly diseases by reducing mosquito populations through genetic modification.
