Students draw and color a lovely pansy using pencils, pens and water colors or colored markers. Students begin with a circle for the basic shape of the flower and gradually change it into the five curving petals radiating from the center. They learn how to add two or three pretty leaves, how to draw the ruffled edges on the leaves and petals and how to represent the soft texture of the petals. The pansy demonstrated in the lesson is painted with water colors and there are many samples shown of pansies in both water colors and colored markers. .
