The various types of simple machines are described, as is their effect on work and power. Students will learn how to calculate work and power, and determine how these principles apply to common activities. Other terminology includes: joule, watt, efficiency, mechanical advantage, screw, inclined plane, lever, fulcrum, wedge, pulley, wheel and axle.
