Armando the artist doesn't paint very well. His writer friend, Marcella, has a suggestion: if Armando would think about adjectives as he works, his paintings might have more detail and better color. When Armando asks Marcella to explain why, viewers see that adjectives are words that tell about nouns. They tell which one, what kind, what color, and how many. Marcella also tells the artist about noun markers (article adjectives). Armando's paintings begin to improve, so he asks Marcella to teach him more about adjectives. Marcella complies by explaining how adjectives can be used to compare by adding the -er and -est endings. In time, Armando's artistic abilities blossom, and he becomes a great artist - thanks to his knowledge of adjectives. Stop points are strategically placed throughout the program, allowing teachers to use blackline handouts and other material to reinforce understandings presented in the program and to prepare students for upcoming material covered in the video. A video quiz is also included.
