The wood industry involves the logging and manufacturing of wood products. Saw mills cut unprocessed wood used in construction and prepare one third for processing in the manufacture of wood based panels and paper-making. The wood is reduced to pulp and processed by mechanical and chemical means to produce paper products. The unusable trimmings, about half of the wood taken from the forest, are burned and used as fuel wood.
