Buckingham Palace is probably the most famous building in London. It is the official residence of the queen and it serves her majesty as both a home and an office. The royal standard flies from the roof when the monarch is in residence, and the changing of the guard takes place in the palace forecourt on most days of the year. It is here that the queen and other members of the royal family receive and entertain guests on ceremonial and official occasions.
