The prairie provinces are Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Saskatchewan is the largest grower of wheat in North America. The Last Best West campaign was an aggressive advertising scheme to attract European homesteaders to the west. From the turn of the century to 1914, some three million people from all over the world came to the prairies for 160 acres of free land. Saskatchewan's capital is Regina and its main industries are wheat, minerals, oil and gas.
