Thales of Miletus (625 û 548 B.C.) û a pre-Socratic Greek philosopher from Miletus in Asia Minor, and one of the Seven Sages of Greece. The scientist was unrivalled in his knowledge of geometry, meteorology, agriculture. He assisted Lydian King Croesus in building the engineering structures during the war against Persians. Many, most notably Aristotle, regard him as the first philosopher in the Greek tradition.
