Heinrich Emil Lenz (1804 û 1865) û Russian physicist and electrical technician, academician of St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences. He formulated so called Lenz’s law that determined the direction for induction currents. Also, Lenz independently discovered Joule’s law of thermal effect of electric current. He invented a device to study the form of electrical current curve; researched vertical distribution of temperature and water saltiness in the ocean, daily variations of the temperature in different latitudes.
