Fridtjof Nansen (1861- 1930) û Norwegian polar explorer who described the results of his expeditions in his works called The First Crossing of Greenland and Farthest North. In 1921, by the order of the International Federation of Red Cross, Nansen established the Famine Relief Committee to save people starving in Povolzhye. In 1922, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
