This lesson focuses on simplifying and factoring algebraic expressions. Students first identify and combine like terms for algebraic expressions with terms of that contain variables. They then identify and factor out the greatest common factor to rewrite a sum as the product of a common factor times an expression in parentheses. The lesson also applies the Multiplication Property of û1 to show the effect of removing or adding parentheses preceded by a negative sign.
