At the end of this activity, students should be able to understand the importance of energy in modern society, understand the difference between total and incomplete combustion of hydrocarbons, be able to work with graphs and calculations concerning hydrocarbon oxidation, understand the term 'energetic value' of a fuel and how to evaluate it and know how catalytic converters work.
