At the end of this activity, students should be able to outline the structure of the circulatory system in mammals, describe the structure of the heart, using a model or an illustration, explain the cardiac cycle, describe the regulation of heart rate by the nervous and endocrine systems and describe the effect of physical activity on blood flow through the organs during the resting state and during physical effort.
