At the end of this activity, students should be able to understand the concept of electrophilic addition, understand why alkenes undergo electrophilic addition, be able to write molecular and structural equations for reactions involving alkenes, understand why addition reactions yield mixtures of isomeric alkanes, and predict their proportion in the mixture and understand the importance of addition polymerisation and be able to give examples of this type of reaction.
