At the end of this activity, students should be able to describe the primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary structures of proteins, explain the nature of the interactions that give proteins a three-dimensional shape, explain the relationship between the shape of a protein molecule and its biological function, describe the denaturation of proteins, name the main building blocks of nucleic acids, explain the structure of DNA and how two strands are bonded together and explain why the two strands of DNA are complementary.
