This program tells the story of John Howard, the first City Engineer, who along with the gift of High Park to the citizens of Toronto, left a legacy of art and architecture. The architecture and watercolors of John Howard are a fascinating and enduring record of the City in the 1800s. At that time Railway Barons took over land reserved for Parks and cut the City of Toronto off from the waterfront. On his death Howard left land, now known as High Park, to the people of Toronto.
