Mr. Beanbody uses his Go-Back app to take Jeffrey and Lilly to Independence, MO, in the 1840s, where they watch as pioneers prepare for their trip westward. They see wagons being built, a pioneer stocking up with supplies at a general store, a family loading food into their covered wagon and a trail guide giving instructions to the people on his wagon train. They then go forward in time to see the pioneers get ready for another day of travel, waking at 4 AM, milking their cows, fixing and eating breakfast, gathering the livestock and finally heading out. They then watch the overlanders on the trail—hunting, gathering and most of all, walking. When the pioneers take their "nooning" break, Lilly and Jeffrey see what the pioneers do when they take their mid-day rest. In addition, the children learn about exciting things the pioneers experienced on the trail and how Native Americans related to the whites who traversed their lands.
