The story introduces people living in an apartment building in Madrid. It's early January, and all the residents are getting ready for the 3 kings (Wise Men) to arrive. In one family, a little girl's parents are trying to find someone to dress up as a Wise Man to visit her. One elderly woman expects no presents. The foreign exchange students are confused by the holiday, and there is cultural information given via explanations to them about the parade and other activities related to the day. Some of the residents can't decide what to buy others as gifts.
