Joe and Cody lived in the far north. Their summer home was a tent near a lake. There are hundreds of lakes in northern Manitoba, so they never stayed on the same one twice. The lakes had beautiful islands and forests and beaches and clear water. But no people. Joe and Cody, the two young brothers first introduced in Caribou Song, may live far from other people, but that does not mean they are lonely. The surrounding wildlife make wonderful friends. But the dragonflies are their favourites. Transforming them into gossamer kites, Joe and Cody laugh and dance and even fly magically in their dreams. Tomson Highway's story, told in both English and Cree, is a tale of simplicity and wonder. Beautifully accompanying this whimsical story, Brian Deines' illustrations capture both the intimate detail and magnificent scope of northern Manitoba.
